The View From Ringside – Paul Williams reviews All Star.

Hi folks!!!
Even though we didn’t have The View From Ringside on this week’s show, our friend Paul has kindly reviewed All Star for the website – enjoy!!!

“Well you know how it is, you’re sat in work on a rubbish Tuesday thinking bout your next wrestling fix when a tweet came through from El Ligero about traveling to Rhyl and performing for All Star on their summer season opener!!!

Fast forward 4 hours and me and my son are in the car headed to North Wales chatting about the action we might see!!!
Having never been to an All Star show but knowing the name from way back when a quick scout online shows that they’re still a very British promotion with a backbone of British wrestlers with a few European and stateside performers thrown into the mix!! This leads to a slightly different feel to the show but one that will bring us back!!!

The promotion uses Rhyl town hall for its shows which is a lovely old school hall with high ceilings and great acoustics, great for wrestling fans!!
The bouts were all well put together and the action rolled on thick and fast. As mentioned there is a more traditional feeling to the whole thing and as I watched the kids swarming around the good guys and booing the bad guys, it reminded me of watching World Of Sport as a kid!!!

The talent on show was varied with the likes of El Ligero, Rampage Brown, Nathan Cruz, Dara Diablo, James Mason, John Skyler, Carl Taylor and former R.O.H. Stars The Bravado Brothers. Rampage even getting involved with a grandma at ringside at one point!!!

The highlight matches for us were El Ligero (who we’d travelled to see) Vs Dara Diablo and the main event of James Mason and Nathan Cruz Vs The Bravado Brothers and the night was finished off with a quick meet and greet with autographs from all the guys before we headed home tired but happy!!!

The show was well worth the mad dash from work and we’ll be back over the summer season at some point!! If you find yourself in work thinking about wrestling next Tuesday and you’re in the North West, make your way over for some wrestling fun, it really is an ‘All Star’ show!!!”

HUGE news about next week’s show………

Hi folks!!!

2 items of news for your attention :

Firstly, last week’s show, including our first ever on air match announcement, thanks to our friends at Pro Wrestling 4 U is available to download and listen to at https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/baz-kezs-british-bodyslam/id657712736,

And secondly, since we were interview-less on last week’s show, due to unforeseen circumstances, this week we’ll have TWO interviews for your listening pleasure as Kez will be interviewing “Superstylin'” Sam Bailey and I’ll be chatting to Babyfaced Pitbull!!!

That’ll be this Wednesday night at 9pm on Blog Talk Radio.

The View From Ringside – Paul Williams reviews RWA Boiling Point

The show

“Bell time soon came and the show began as usual with a junior contest which I think is great as it allows some of the younger trainees to showcase their skills, get used to being in front of a crowd and calling matches and spots as they work. This contest was between Sayde Vainne, Seth Skyline and current junior champion Bullet. All 3 lads did a good job of getting their character across, getting the crowd involved and added comedy into the mix too, all in all a strong match put together and with a storyline finish which will be continued next show!!

After this match the GM came out (to boos of course) and carried on a simmering storyline between one of the current tag teams Babyfaced Pitbull and AC Kage.
Then it was on with the main of the bruising action!!
Matches between Burt Bridge Vs Dave Dunn (this was a hard, bruising affair),
NXL champion Troy McCarthy Vs Tommy Haden (great athletic match),
AC Kage Vs Ronan Sheridan (some great bumps in this one),
Gym Powers Vs Dave Sorby (some comedy gold from these 2 which I always love),
Tag team champs The Runcorn Rockers Vs Little Fab (some fast paced exchanges and heavy thumps during this match),
Paddy D Vs Babyfaced Pitbull (Pitbull continues to impress and Paddy D is no slouch either),
Matt Fox Vs Adam Cairns (quick blink and you missed cheeky roll up win for young Adam).

And finally an excellent contest between the current heavyweight champion Dan Evans Vs Zack ‘Diamond’ Gibson!!

Now Zack having started his training with RWA years ago, this was somewhat of a homecoming for him and the crowd let him know they appreciated him!!
Both he and Dan put on a great match with near falls, big power moves exchanged, dives to the floor and even a little unintentional comedy spot from Zack with drama at the end with the sneaky GM involved again!! This match did what it was meant to do and had the crowd whipped up a few times and sent home happy, if a little disappointed with the result!!

9 matches is a packed card in general for any show and this was no different leading to a rapid fire approach and kept the crowd moving with them (which sometimes doesn’t happen leading to an overall loss of momentum), all this and the crowd only paid £4 entry!!!! BARGAIN.

All together we (I had my 2 kids with me for the whole day) had a great day from start to finish, even getting a few pics with their favourites at the end!! If your anywhere in the North West on RWA show days, the next being the 20th July then have a look for their website (an easy google away) get down there and support your local wrestling!

If you’ve ever wanted to have a go yourself, see how it’s done or get involved then RWA are there every Saturday from 10:30 till 3 EVERY week so what are u waiting for!! My only regret of the whole day was that I didn’t do it sooner!

Big thanks to everyone over at the RWA for making us so welcome and putting on another entertaining show, see you next week!! :-)”

The View From Ringside – Paul Williams reviews Futureshock 68

Futureshock 68 – a review by Paul Williams.

“A Futureshock event having been my 1st UK based show months back, these have become our families favourite and we couldn’t wait for last Sunday!!
The queue was buzzing with talk of the matches ahead, possible other matches and general excitement that these cards usually provide!!
The Futureshock experience is always a pretty slick affair with some of the best talent in the country on show, hosted by Magic Mark Adams and Metrosexual Matt Taylor.
The action always comes at you thick and fast, sometimes spilling into the crowd or around the hall and with leaps to the floor, chairs and tables sometimes in the mix too you’re sure to be entertained no matter who happens to be booked on that particular day!! Story-lines abound and are well built and never rushed, always coming to fruition at a natural pace and played to a tee by all involved!! I’m yet to leave a Futureshock show disappointed and this was no different!!

The matches on show were as follows:-
Triple threat with Raynaldo, Sam Bailey and Axl Rage (Rage with the win after a mix up by the other 2 men),

Debut match for Justin Price Vs fellow trainee Sonur Durson (Durson winning by DQ after Justin’s friends The Models got involved),

6-man tag with Si Valour, Sparx and Josh Bodum Vs Xander Cooper, Don Meacho and Ryan Bodum (Xander’s men winning via sneaky shenanigans),

April Davids defending her women’s belt Vs Viper (Viper wins after a blindside attack by debutant ring entrant Danni Hunter),

Dave Rayne’s open challenge was answered by Nordic warrior (Dave won with his DV8),

Main event with Zack Gibson and Joe Vega Vs heavyweight champ Alex Cyanide and T-bone (Zack and Joey win with a surprise roll up between Joe and T-bone).

Personal highlights of the night were :-April and Vipers match and shock attack from Danni Hunter (this will be one to follow)
The Models (in new ring attire) always entertaining and Justin impressed in his debut!!
During the main event when Zack dove for Cyanide and nearly tore the house down LITERALLY!!!!
And Nordic warrior and his comedy hammer gimmick played perfectly by Dave!!

If u haven’t been to a Futureshock show yet, why not?
Do yourself a favour and get tickets for their next show Underground 2 on August 3rd in Prestwich.
Ill give u my personal guarantee u won’t be disapointed and with main event of Doug Williams Vs CHAMPION Cyanide, I’d put my house on the fact this will another blinder from the Futureshock boys n girls.

See u all there Paul,
DJSparxUK on twitter!! ;-)”
